Strip special chars for any language

November 23, 2014 at 5:29 pm

Many scripts use different functions to produce slugifed part of URL from post/article/page title.
Usually such functions work well until this is some rare language with specific special characters.
After searching the net I found one really working solution, tested on clients sites with such problems (with eg. Turkish language). The function is short but really efficient.

U2′s Bono bike accident

November 20, 2014 at 9:52 pm

I thought I am the most unlucky bike fellow of this year, but I was wrong! Bono, famous frontman of the Irish rock group U2 required hours of surgery for fractures to his face and shoulder blade and to have metal plates inserted in his arm after a cycling accident in New York’s Central Park. He was trying to avoid another cyclist when the accident occurred and his arm shattered in six places and tore through the skin, requiring three metal plates and 18 screws to repair the injury.

My son’s new Mazda car

November 1, 2014 at 10:10 pm

I’m really proud of my 20+ years old son. He’s pretty clever boy, very reliable man, used to care about every single detail when he does some work. He was the one who worked for his father as a teenager, installing a lot of different stuff on linux servers. Always on time, always perfect.
Some time ago he started a job for some French IT company, earns solid money and recently changed his car from pretty old Mitsubishi into 3 years old Mazda 6.
As he’s really crazy about details he spent a lot of time on tuning his car’s look. He just finished, made some photos for Mazda competition and hopes to reach tops, just for satisfaction…
I know there is a lot of automotive fans around that can be interested in final tuning result.

Fighting with unwanted bots

November 1, 2014 at 12:49 am

Many webmasters do not even imagine how many bots is visiting their websites.
It’s not only bots of popular search engines, but big thousands of automats browsing your sites and content for many different reasons.
Most often they only eat your bandwidth, sometimes traveling throughout multiple pages within one second.

Custom player for Veojam website

October 9, 2014 at 10:47 am

We have finalized new, completely custom design for www.veojam.com website.
What you see below is video embedded from this website. Embed code works as an iframe and contains fallback to html5 on browsers without flash support (mobile devices).
Custom player is less detailed, with several features completely redesigned.

On video this is one of most reputable fingerstyle guitarists Tommy Emmanuel playing in duet with Igor Presnyakov, Russian guitarist living in Netherlands.

From www to non-www and opposite. It really matters!

October 5, 2014 at 10:53 pm

This is very important to have website accessible only as one URL schema, with or without “www”.
Even Google says about it

If you don't specify a preferred domain, we may treat the www and non-www versions of the domain as separate references to separate pages.

In short words this means that you risk duplicated pages if you don’t care about preferred URL.

Site URL is also very important for javascript, including one that Nuevoplayer setup code use.
If your site is accessed with “www” prefix, but javascript attempts to read feeds from URL without “www”, this will end with javascript Cross Domain Policy error, and it may completely fail to execute, will not load HTML5 player.

The solution is simple.

Multiple video players on same page

October 1, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Many people ask if it is possible to use multiple instances of Nuevoplayer on same web page.
The answer is “YES”, though of course it requires some understanding of HTML. First of all next Nuevoplayer instance must refer to different HTML object ID, and player java script setup code must be correct for it.
Whatever, it’s not very difficult to set multiple players on page, each with different media source(s). Just watch example below. It works both, on desktop and mobile browsers (HTML5)

How to setup responsive video player

September 18, 2014 at 3:32 am

Nuevoplayer is well prepared for responsive layouts. All inner objects well fit player even for small player size in both: flash and html5 versions.
However first player’s parent object must be also responsive and must keep aspect ratio when resized.
See Nuevoplayer example below and try to resize browser to some smaller size. Watch how player fits parent object to minimum 320 pixels width.

Multiple video sources for HTML5 player, including HD switch option

September 17, 2014 at 1:06 pm

Nuevoplayer allows to define multiple video sources to play.
Most of visitors see only default video and optionally HD video alternative available to play through player.
However it is possible to define more video file instances for player to support almost every possible browser and device.
